How to Program a Honda Key fob at home (Fast & Easy)
How to Program a Honda Key fob at home.
Also known as Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming
In this video, I demonstrate how to program a Honda key FOB transmitter to work with the door lock system. This programming can be used for programming a spare key fob and remote key of many Honda Models. This process is also particularly important if the master power window switch (window control unit) has been replaced on older Honda models. For many older Honda vehicles, this programming can be done without specialized tools, and I'll walk you through the steps.
Here's how to program your Honda key FOB in written form:
1- Gather all remotes you want to program. You'll need to program all of them in one session.
2- Sit in the vehicle with all doors closed and unlocked.
3- Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (one click before starting/position II).
4- Within 5 seconds, press the LOCK button on your remote for one second.
Turn the key to position I (or OFF position in some models)
6- Repeat steps 4 and 5 two more times, for a total of three ON/OFF cycles. Each step must be completed within 5 seconds of the previous one.
7- Turn the key to the ON position for the fourth time, then press the LOCK button on your remote. You should hear the locks make a clunking noise, indicating the vehicle is now in Remote Programming Mode.
8- If your programming multiple remotes, press the LOCK button on each additional remote within 10 seconds. You can program up to three remotes per Honda vehicle.
9- Turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition. Test all programmed remotes to ensure they work properly.
It's crucial to complete this programming, as failure to do so will result in non-functional lock/unlock buttons on the key FOB transmitter. Additionally, you won't be able to deactivate the built-in alarm system if it's triggered.
Honda officially refers to this procedure as Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming. While this method works for many older Honda models, it's important to note that newer Honda vehicles, especially those with keyless push-to-start systems, typically require a Honda factory-capable scan tool for key FOB programming. If you have a newer model and don't have access to such a tool, you'll need to take your vehicle to a qualified service center
Remember, your remote won't function if the key is in the ignition. If you've lost your keyless entry remote, reprogramming your Honda remote is advisable to protect your vehicle from theft.
If you have any questions about this Honda key fob Programming,
feel free to drop me a comment. Hope you guys enjoy the video.

    I haven’t bought a replacement key fob yet, just wondering if this technique will work on a 2012 Civc, or would it have to be older than that?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods 23 години тому

      From what I understand this method works on Honda Civics up to 2011. 2012 Honda Civic and beyond models require programing. If you looking to DIY or to program several keys, you can try this: amzn.to/4dFqEb0 But if you just need a spare key fob, I would suggest checking out your local Locksmith, they should charge around $150 give or take. If you dont have a key at all, then the price is going to be much higher. Good luck bro. Hope that helps!

    I was wondering about the use of alcohol as a cleaner. What I have done in the past is use a baking soda toothpaste, my sonicare toothbrush to do the cleaning after I clean initially with a natural window cleaner. Once I do the toothbrush cleaning, I then wipe it all down with the window cleaner again to get any residue off. They may not be perfect, but actually can see very well through the lens. I then take Plastik and give it a good polishing. The result may not be quite like new, but amazingly clear. The best part is there is no sanding. Personally I would stay away from any sanding process.

    Great Video. How long roughly would it take to remove the 2 down pipes. Also does the 2 o2 sensors need to be fully removed from the car. Can they just be unplugged from the top of the engine and then unclipped from the metal clips that hold them so it gives enough slack when the down pipes come off. I don’t need to fully remove the down pipes from the car as just need to drop both of them to gain access to the engine supply to coolant pump pupe

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods 20 днів тому

      Should take you anywhere from 3 to 5 hours, give or take depending on your tools and skills. For instance, if you have a lift, it will be much faster. Or if your bolts have rust, that would probably add time since you gotta fight with those bolts. As far as removing the O2's, I find that more contrible to work with since space is very limited. Unplugging the O2's from the top is a must in order not to wrinkle the O2's cable. But it never hurt to give it a try. Let me know if you can get away from removing the from O2's.

    Thanks so much for the video! My 09 Corolla had terrible yellowing and haze. Cheap kits I've used on other cars won't last long on this one. I'm waiting for the Sylvania kit to get here, but wanted to start the cleaning process so it'll be less work, and needed something that wouldn't leave residue. I was SO happy using the baking soda method, it was amazing, wish I knew of it earlier. I used a heavy paste and repeated it twice, 5-8 min each. The yellow is nearly gone and there's only a slight haze compared to what is was before. Will definitely keep baking soda in mind when I need a quick temporary fix. 😊

      @@CrazyCarMods Doing mine today, the way you knocked out those V-bands was fabulous. I used to be a tech for Nissan so have a lot of experience under my belt, but it always helps watching someone else do it first. Are the V Bands really as hard as people say? It doesn't look too bad but almost every forum post makes it seem like they're impossible to get on. I have small hands, maybe that will help. Lol Again, thank you for taking the time to upload this, really helpful.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods 18 днів тому

      The key to getting those v bands on is to have the v bands almost on (meaning like half on). Also, try not to touch the v band when putting the down pipe because that can make the v band fall off. It makes it challenging because of the tight space. Good luck, bro. You're gonna love it once it's done 😈

    How do you cover your car safely from the clear coat (the least expensive way)? Also, do you need to cover your paint job of your car when using any of these hacks? (or was this more to highlight your testing areas and controls?) I’m most likely going to use the baking soda/hydrogen peroxide/white vinegar method. Thank you for your thorough and thoughtful demo of these headlight restoration hacks!! Very much appreciated 😃🙏

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods 18 днів тому

      When using vinegar, make sure to cover your paint. Vinegar is not going to damage your paint if it touches it, but if you leave residue on the paint, plus with the sun rays (heat), then that might be an issue. So make sure to rinse your paint from any products you use. Also, if applying the clear coat, you do want to cover your paint. You can use plastic bags, or you can buy some thin plastic sheets in walmart or Home Depot (should only be a few dollars) $3 to $5. When spraying, try it on a piece of cardboard or something. You can spray many light coats. Dont worry about covering all the surface, let it dry, and apply thin coats. It will all be covered eventually. This way, you will avoid over spraying the headlight. Good Luck 👍

    I second never using any solvents/degreaser/surfactants or anything that can degrade the oil quality to clean inside the oiling system just use a rag.

    Mahalo for actually doing a comparison with each of the products, I’m amazed how easy it can be ! Will try it on my 19 year old Highlander! 👏🏻❤️🏝️🌈🌺

    Are you located in NY and could I pay you to install mine?

    I don't care for the money(just a little bit😂) my problem is that I can't find a fabric like mine so instead of buying a new one, I will opt to just buy a 3mm foam adhesive from one side and then glue the original fabric on it. Do you think this will work?

      I will work as long as the insulation is not damaged. Just dont spray the fabric itself. Be careful with the over spray. Good luck bro.

      @@CrazyCarMods I bought a new fabric on Amazon. I must say that it was the best choice not to mess with the old one. Another advice I would give is to always paint it by hand and not use spray glue. Unfortunately my glue can finished as I bought only one, so in some parts I had to use the spray glue I had and in some points it appeared on the surface of the fabric😬 That's it.

    Can the clear coat be applied to the one wd40 was used

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods 18 днів тому

      No. The clear coat will not work with the WD40. The WD40 is only a quick, fast, easy method, but it will not last long. Clear coat would only be good after any cleaning the headlight lens. The clear coat is to protect and to make the lens last longer without oxidation.

      You proof what I thought about the video before uploading it lol. Im actually starting to introduce different content, I believe, is interesting. The other cars you guys will see are from close family members. If I have a chance to fix or correct any issues, i just thought to upload the footage that eventually some will appreciate. Even though Im bringing other footage to the channel, the original content is still my hobby. Thank you for the support 👏 And guys, please bare with me, I started this channel as my hobby. it's just that I haven't had much time for hobbying 😭
